Title: Tomographic analysis of the thermal Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect

Ryu Makiya (Kavli IPMU)

Abstract:

The thermal Sunyaev-Zel’dovich (tSZ) effect is the spectral distortion of the CMB photons due to the hot thermal electrons in intracluster medium.
By using the tSZ observation, we can investigate the cosmological parameters such as the amplitude of matter density fluctuation, as well as the baryon physics closely related to the galaxy formation.
In this talk we present a tomographic analysis of the tSZ all-sky map provided by the Planck satellite, by taking a cross-correlation between the tSZ map and other observables whose mass and redshift distributions are different from the tSZ. We will focus on the so-called ‘’mass bias’’ parameter, which is the largest uncertainty in the cluster cosmology, and the possible tension between the cosmological parameters inferred from the galaxy clusters and the primordial CMB.
