A press announcement was made on the research results by Kimihiko Nakajima (currently Associate Professor at Kanazawa University), Masami Ouchi, and collaborators. This research was initiated as a collaborative project while Dr. Nakajima was a project assistant professor in our group. Using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the team successfully observed a galaxy with the lowest oxygen abundance ever measured. This is a highly important discovery for understanding galaxy formation in the early universe.
