On solving the solar wind acceleration problem

Munehito Shoda (Solar Science Observatory, NAOJ)

abstract:

We are now facing a new era of solar and heliospheric science by the successful launch of Parker Solar Probe. One of the scientific goals of Parker Solar Probe is to reveal the physical mechanism(s) underlying the heating and acceleration of the solar wind. Now, when the scientific data of Parker Solar Probe is to be released, I would like to revisit the definition of solar wind acceleration problem with several recent progresses. The goal of this talk is to share a clear insight regarding how we solve one of the most important problems in astronomy.
